Privacy Policy
A legal disclaimer
This policy explains what personal information Liquid Sounds collects when you use our website or buy from us, why we collect it, who we share it with, and what rights you have over it.
We've tried to write this in plain English. The summary below covers the most important points. The detail follows for anyone who needs it — and we recommend you read the full document if you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or California, since those jurisdictions give you specific additional rights.
Privacy Policy - the basics
-
We collect the information you give us (order details, account, contact form submissions), plus information your browser sends automatically (cookies, device data, IP address).
-
We use that information to take and fulfil orders, send you content you've asked for, run the website, comply with our legal obligations, and improve what we do.
-
We share information with the small number of third-party services we use to run the business: a payment processor, a shipping carrier, our email platform, and our analytics provider.
-
We don't sell your personal information to anyone, and we never have.
-
You can ask us what information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, opt out of marketing, and lodge a complaint at any time.
If you want any of that done, write to privacy@liquidsounds.com
Who we are
Liquid Sounds is a brand owned and operated by Wine to the Stars and Buratti Management Pty Ltd.
For the purposes of this policy, references to "we," "us," and "our" mean Liquid Sounds. References to "you" mean the person reading this policy or using our website.
This policy is provided in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles set out in Schedule 1 of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), and — where applicable — the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulations.
What information we collect
Information you give us
When you interact with our website, we collect:
-
Account and order details — your name, billing and delivery addresses, email address, phone number, and date of birth (we are legally required to confirm you are old enough to buy alcohol)
-
Payment information — your payment details are entered directly into our payment provider's secure form and we do not see or store your full card number. We retain a token reference and the last four digits for our records
-
Communications — anything you send us by email, contact form, or chat, including your message, your email address, and any attachments you provide
-
Marketing preferences — your subscription status for our newsletter and any preferences you set
-
Artist, label, and promoter enquiries — if you contact us through the artists and promoters pathway, we collect the information you provide in that enquiry, which may include third-party names (an artist or act you represent, a tour, a release)
Information your browser sends automatically
When you visit the site, your browser sends:
-
IP address and approximate geographic location
-
Device type, operating system, browser type and version
-
Pages you visit, time spent on each page, referring website
-
Cookie identifiers (see the Cookies and tracking section below)
The XR (extended reality) feature
Some of our editions include an extended reality experience that activates when you scan the bottle label with your phone or tablet.
The XR viewer requests permission to access your device's camera so it can detect the artwork and overlay the animation. The camera feed is processed on your device — it is not streamed to our servers and we do not record or store it.
We do collect anonymous usage data about how the XR experience is used (how many scans a bottle receives, how long the animation is watched, which device types are used) so we can improve it. None of that data identifies you personally.
You can decline camera access in your browser. The XR feature won't work, but the website and your bottle are unaffected.
Information we receive from third parties
We receive limited information from the services we use to run the business:
-
From our payment processor: confirmation of payment, the last four digits of the card, and any fraud-flag information
-
From our shipping carrier: shipment tracking and delivery confirmation
-
From our analytics provider: aggregated reports about how the site is used
Why we collect and use your information
We use the information described above for the following purposes:
-
To take and fulfil your orders — processing payment, arranging delivery, handling returns, providing customer support
-
To verify your age — Australian liquor law requires us to confirm purchasers of alcohol are 18 or older
-
To run the website — hosting, security, performance, fraud prevention
-
To communicate with you — confirming orders, responding to enquiries, sending shipping updates, sending marketing communications you've subscribed to
-
To improve what we do — understanding how customers use the site, which editions interest people, where our marketing is reaching
-
To comply with our legal obligations — accounting, tax, liquor licensing, anti-fraud and anti-money-laundering requirements
-
To handle artist, label, and promoter enquiries — assessing potential collaborations and routing enquiries internally
I
f you're in the United Kingdom or European Union
f you're in the UK or EU, we rely on the following legal bases for processing your information under the General Data Protection Regulation:
-
Contract — where processing is needed to take and fulfil your order, or to respond to your enquiries
-
Legal obligation — where we are required by law to keep records or to verify age
-
Consent — for marketing communications and non-essential cookies, which you can withdraw at any time
-
Legitimate interests — for website security, fraud prevention, and basic analytics, where those interests are not outweighed by your rights
Who we share your information with
We do not sell personal information to third parties, and we have no plans to do so.
We share information only with the service providers we need in order to run the business. Each of them is contractually bound to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we've engaged them for.
These currently include:
-
Hosting
-
E-commerce platform
-
Payment processing
-
Shipping and fulfilment
-
Email and marketing
-
Analytics
-
Customer support tools
-
XR delivery platform
We will also share your information where we are required to by law (for example, in response to a valid request from a regulator or law enforcement), or where it's necessary to enforce our terms or protect our legal rights.
If Liquid Sounds is sold, merged, or restructured, your information may be transferred to the new owner. We will tell you in advance if that happens.
International transfers
Liquid Sounds is based in Australia. Some of the service providers we use are based overseas, which means your information may be transferred to and stored in countries outside Australia — most commonly the United States, United Kingdom, and European Union.
Where information leaves Australia, we use providers who have appropriate safeguards in place: contractual protections (Standard Contractual Clauses where applicable), recognised data protection certifications, or adequacy decisions issued by the relevant authority.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to make the site work and to understand how it's used.
Essential cookies are necessary for the site to function — for example, to remember what's in your cart and to keep you logged in. We don't ask for consent for these because the site won't work without them.
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. We ask for your consent before using these.
Marketing cookies — we don't currently run advertising campaigns that depend on tracking pixels. If that changes, we'll update this section and ask for your consent before activating them.
You can manage your cookie preferences through the banner that appears when you first visit the site, and through the Cookie preferences link in our footer. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings — though some parts of the site may stop working if you do.
Marketing communications
We will only send you marketing communications if you've subscribed to receive them.
Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. You can also write to privacy@liquidsounds.com and ask us to remove you, and we will action that within five working days.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop transactional emails. Order confirmations, shipping updates, and customer service responses will continue to come through, since those are necessary to take and fulfil your orders.
Your rights
You have the following rights in relation to the personal information we hold about you. To exercise any of them, write to privacy@liquidsounds.com [TBC].
-
Access — you can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you
-
Correction — you can ask us to correct information that is wrong or out of date
-
Deletion — you can ask us to delete your information. We will action this unless we are required to keep some of it by law (for example, for tax or liquor record-keeping)
-
Restriction — you can ask us to stop using your information for certain purposes
-
Objection — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
-
Portability (UK / EU) — you can ask us to send your information to another service in a machine-readable format
-
Withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time
We will respond within 30 days. We do not charge for handling these requests, except where a request is manifestly unfounded or excessive — in which case we will explain why before any charge is applied.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal information, please write to us first at privacy@liquidsounds.com
